The COBRA SECURITY INFOLOCK was developed at the request of railway authorities with security, wagon/freight tracking & movement monitoring as the primary requirement.
The COBRA SECURITY INFOLOCK is a programmable data storage device (ie. a RF tag) which is commonly used as a wagon door lock. Its information can be accessed and retrieved via a fixed track side or handheld reader or PC.
Information stored includes: Lock id, wagon id/name, wagon origin, wagon destination, wagon cargo etc. Information stored in the lock is read by the track side readers as the train passes. Trackside readers are installed on both sides of the rail track and the lock information is automatically captured, read and transmitted to a control room. This information can be integrated into the rail operator's management system, providing real time information for further processing and monitoring.

The moment a lock is tampered with, the lock information can no longer be retrieved. The control room is immediately made aware of this security breach via the track side readers.

The info lock can also be read by using the portable hand held reader whilst the train is stationary. It is also used for manual reading where an operator actually walks the train and quickly reads/scans each information lock. This information can be directly transmitted to the main control room.

Note:
This is a disposable lock. It can only be opened by cutting the locked pin. This is the main security feature ie. once cut open it cannot be re-used, in turn warning you someone has attempted to access the wagons goods.
